Mission 1:27 Project – 14th Edition

Aug 27, 2022

A gift should have just as much or more impact on the recipient than it does on the giver. We are blessed to be a blessing!

We thank God for the successful completion of our 14th Mission 1:27 Project. It is amazing to see how things have evolved, where Ebunlomo Olagunju Foundation started, where it has been and where it is going. Our hearts are touched and exploding with joy to see the excitement of our friends, the widows and widowers, receive their gift today.

Just like every event, todays started the same. The Implementation Committee was on site setting up and preparing for our guests. Tents went up, chairs were set up, sound system was prepped, and gifts prepared. Every detail was taken very seriously as we prepared for our honored attendees. It is an honor to be in the position that Ebunlomo Olagunju Foundation is to have the privilege and blessing to touch so many people’s lives through our generous donors and volunteers who make each one of these events happen.

While preparing for today, conversations were taking place to decide what we would like to bless our honored guests with at this Mission 1:27. Each time we do an event, the gift to be given is taken very seriously and much thought goes into it. When we are prompted to shift, we do our best to listen. Today was the outcome of one of those promptings. We are so grateful we heeded that prompting. We are overwhelmed with the reaction from the widows and widowers. Today, we took a step to bless each one of our guests with a financial gift instead of the specific gift of food. To some that may not seem like a big deal, but to the recipients it was huge.

Sometimes as the giver, we have no idea all the things the gift we are giving will communicate. Depending on the situation someone is in, they may never receive a financial gift that will allow them to decide what it is they would like to do with it. Today, Ebunlomo Olagunju Foundation afforded each one of the widows and widowers that opportunity. If there is financial pressure due to a bill, it can be relieved. If they would like to have bread and tea tomorrow, they can. If their child needs shoes, it will help. Whatever the pressure or pleasure, each individual gets to decide what they need. That is powerful! We believe this financial gift communicated something a little different. It communicated that we care and value you. It is hard to explain in words but the expressions and stories being shared from Igosun, Kwara State, Nigeria encapsulate that very sentiment.

We cannot close out anything we do without a very special thank you to our Implementation Committee, Board of Trustees and our generous donors. We are thankful for the willing hands and generous hearts that allow God’s work to be done. When a seed is planted in your heart, act on it. If not, you will never know the impact. Ebunlomo Olagunju Foundation was once just a seed that has grown into an organization of impact. We all want to do our best to think less of ourselves and more about how we are impacting others. Never forget, we are blessed to be a blessing!
