EduQuest 2024: Senior Secondary School Preliminary

Feb 28, 2024

As the curtains closed on the third and final day of preliminaries for EduQuest 2024, anticipation filled the air as the spotlight shifted to the Senior Secondary School age group. This cohort, akin to 9th through 12th graders in the US, brought forth twelve exceptional students, all vying for a chance to secure one of the six coveted spots in the Grand Finale.

In a town where such competitions are a rarity, the students of Igosun rose to the challenge with remarkable poise and determination. Just like their counterparts in the Junior Secondary School category, the highlight of the preliminary round for both the students and the spectators was undoubtedly the exhilarating Rapid Fire Round. With adrenaline coursing through their veins, each student took their turn, facing a ticking 90-second timer and up to 10 questions, with the opportunity to earn additional points for every correct answer. Despite the pressure, the students demonstrated exceptional composure and delivered a captivating performance that left everyone in awe.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to each of these brave individuals for their boldness in showcasing their knowledge in front of a live audience. Among them, five students from Government Secondary School Senior Secondary School and one student from Igosun High School Senior Secondary School emerged triumphant, earning their well-deserved places in the Grand Finale scheduled for March 9th.

With three full and bustling days of preliminary competitions behind us, we pause to express our deepest gratitude to our dedicated Education Committee, the tireless volunteers, and the generous donors whose unwavering support breathed life into this event. As we reflect on the journey thus far, we are reminded of the boundless goodness of God, and we are grateful for the opportunity to play our part in what we believe is His work.
